Single Decade Rosary

It's nice to say the whole Rosary in one sitting, but sometimes that's just not possible. Busy lives take over and we just can't find the time, energy, or level of concentration necessary to really pray it right. If that's the case for you, it's better to say the Rosary in pieces, throughout your day, than to say a full Rosary poorly in one sitting. Single-decade Rosaries are ideal for this. They're more portable, allowing you to carry one in your pocket for example. They're also concealable. One can say a decade or two while walking in the park or waiting in line somewhere without drawing any unwanted attention.

What follows are complete instructions on how to pray the Rosary in 7 sections. What a simple yet great way to fill your day with meaningful prayer!

Section 1: Begin your Rosary with the Preparatory Prayers.

Preparatory Prayers
Sign of the Cross
3 Hail Marys (for Faith, Hope, and Charity)

Sections 2-6: Once the prep-prayers are completed, start your decadesEach day of the week we pray 5 decades of the Rosary. During the Hail Marys of these decades, we meditate on "mysteries" of the life of Christ & Mary (see Mysteries of the Rosary at the bottom of this page).  Each of the five decades is prayed as follows. Use the 10 beads on your pocket Rosary to keep track of the Hail Marys.

Decades of the Rosary
10 Hail Marys
(Meditate on the mystery here. Suggestion: it's important to try to see your own life in each mystery. For example, while meditating on the Annunciation, try to think of the virtue of humility and how it applies to you. Or, when mediating on the Carrying of the Cross, try to see how you can be more patient in dealing with your everyday trials.)
